The
Columbia Pictures Television Building was designed and built for this
particular tenant. The building is a four-story building on top of a
four-story parking garage, two levels of which are below grade and two
levels above grade. The design carefully incorporates this massing so
that is appears to only be a four-story building, and as a result, was
the recipient of accolades from the planning staff and City Council
in Burbank.
The
building is located across the street from Warner Brothers Records building,
and this enabled the television and records departments of these two
companies to interact with each other across a public street that was
for practical purposes concerted into a private street and landscaped
atmosphere.
